Properties and Flats in Cannes

The elegant town of Cannes is situated towards the south eastern end of the Cote d’Azur (The French Riviera ). It’s Mediterranean climate ensures at least six months of sunshine per year with temperatures averaging twenty five degrees . During the winter there are still plenty of warm sunny days too.

Cannes , of course is world renowned for it’s legendary film festival held in May when Hollywood’s movie stars descend on the town to attend the event at the “Palais des Festivals” , all trying to win the top award , The Palme d’Or . In addition to this event , Cannes also holds one of the world’s leading music conventions called Midem and the largest property trade show in Europe , MIPIM.

The Croisette , Cannes’ exclusive seaside boulevard , has more designer shops than Hollywood’s own Rodeo Drive in Beverley Hills ( a town it is twinned with along with Kensington and Chelsea in London and also Acapulco and Madrid) . It also has an array of top quality hotels such as the Carlton and the Martinez and of course, across the road, they all have their chic beach restaurants.

Cannes has two marinas, Port de Cannes and Port Pierre Canto , one at each end of the Croisette catering for boats of all shapes and sizes. Properties in Cannes range from exclusive homes in areas such as Californie and luxury penthouse apartments over looking the Croisette to more modest properties set back a little from the sea front and pretty town houses in the old town of Le Suquet.

This old quarter has winding cobbled lanes lined with shops ( much more affordable than those on the Croisette) and local restaurants serving every kind of cuisine. This area was the original fishermans’ town of Cannes , dating back over four hundred years . There is also a daily market here held in the mornings at the Marche Forville where you can buy all the local produce that is in season.

There are many beaches , some privately owned by the hotels but also plenty of public ones especially heading south out of the town towards La Bocca which has a private airport if you need somewhere to land your jet. For the rest of us Nice airport is an easy twenty five minute drive away. Cannes must be one of the most sophisticated towns in the world but is still a fun filled place with something for everyone !
