Nice, capital of the French Riviera, is the third most visited city in France after Paris and Lyon due to its exceptional geographical location between sea and mountains and its proximity to Monaco and Italy.

A true metropolis by the sea, with a strong focus on the future, Nice has many facets.

City of arts and culture with the most museums after Paris, Nice provides a vast array of cultural options incuding the Matisse Museum nestled in the Roman Arena of Cimiez, the Chagall Museum, the MAMAC, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Naive Art and many others.

The Côte d’Azur capital has taken on the challenge of building the Côte d’Azur of the new millennium by attracting the biggest companies in the new economy. Many projects are taking place in the Var, to the west of the city, the backbone of this new economic universe with the creation of a business district, a technological and urban centre and eco-neighbourhoods.

Nice is very much in tune with the times, but simultaenously remains very attached to its authenticity, its markets and its local producers.

People

Second city of the PACA region and fifth city of France, Nice has nearly 350 000 inhabitants.

From the airport, to the west of the city, to the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer, to the east, the sea is the heart of Nice ! Famous for its sublime Baie des Anges, Nice is the city of France where diversified and protected marine areas are located a few metres from the great avenues.

Inland, around Nice, are the hills, villages, vineyards and nature of the Nice region.

The neighbouring coastline offers the most beautiful panoramas on the Riviera, with, to the east, Villefranche-sur-Mer and its splendid harbour where cruise ships dock, as well as Beaulieu and St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, authentic gems of the Cote d’Azur.

From Eze, an impressive Medieval village perched on the hillside, you can marvel at the splendid panorama of the entire coast.
Past the Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport located on the western edge of the city, Saint-Laurent-du-Var with its marina and Cagnes-sur-Mer are beautiful seaside towns where the shores widen and make way for leisurely water front strolls and bike riding.

The walk linking the small fisherman’s village of Cros de Cagnes and the Hippodrome de la Côte d’Azur is particularly enjoyable.

What You Will Love

The exceptional brightness and sunshine, which has attracted many of the world’s most famous painters throughout the decades, will quench the desire for abundent sunlight.

You will love the dynamic animation all year round punctuated by major events such as the Nice Carnival in February and the Jazz Festival in summer.

Nice’s international dimension makes it a very popular cosmopolitan city.

Its rich historical and cultural heritage abounds with prehistoric traces including the Grotto of Lazaret, Roman remains in the Arena of Cimiez, palaces and churches of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Baroque Age and the Belle Epoque.

Its magnificent Baie des Anges bordered by the famous Promenade des Anglais along the seaside, with the numerous public and private beaches and prestigious hotels including the Negresco and its famous pink dome.

Its gastronomy with its many specialities, including socca, pissaladière, petits farcis, blette pie, daube and pan bagnat, not to mention the famous Niçoise salad.

The Port and its magnificent colours, the Castle Hill, its waterfall and park offering a panoramic view of the city.

Expect to thrive in a city that is changing from day to day with its ongoing urban projects:

– the tramway, with a second line linking the port to the airport, will be operational in 2019,
– la Coulée Verte or Promenade du Paillon, a 12 hectare green ‘lung’ in the heart of the city,
– the Liberation, a new trendy district, with the transformation of the old South Station, with its listed façade, into a real covered market like Covent Garden and the brand new Dolby multiplex cinema,
– the urban renovation project around Thiers station in the city centre to make it a real multimodal hub with the construction of a building with futuristic architecture housing a Hilton hotel, a theatre, shops, restaurants and offices.
You can expect to live in a beautiful city where… life is simply good ! Nice is magical, with the seaside offering a unique spectacle of oscillating turquoise waters, with breathtaking panoramas, and with floral scents mingling with the sea air..
From Nice, you can go from the sea to the mountains in no time, any time…

Nice is a city where people from all over the world meet and all languages are spoken. A place where it is easy to travel thanks to the multiple transport options (bus, tramway, train, Blue Bike, Blue Car), where the architectural and historical heritage is full of multiple riches and where you can enjoy local culinary specialities.

By choosing Nice as your home, you will be able to stroll through the Albert 1er gardens and the Coulée Verte, swim in the sea all summer long, shop chic or cheap and live or simply invest in rental property.
