A true gem of the Medieval epoque built in a green valley, Valbonne village is a truly irresistible place of authentic charm. Its design has allowed it to remain perfectly preserved, with an olden day feel emanating from its beautiful cobbled streets and town houses.

Valbonne village is vibrant all year round but mostly so in the high season due to tourists and secondary home owners, who bring the village to life with bubbly effervescence all summer long.

Fridays are the village’s market day, and its many restaurants, bars, shops and boutiques are a delight for residents and tourists alike, in such a privileged, mesmerising setting..

Valbonne is about authenticity, providing a genuine Provencal lifestyle to anyone who wishes to live there.

People & Neighbourhoods

Valbonne has a strategic geographical location, not far from the coastline yet on the doorstep of the inland technological center of Sophia Antipolis, otherwise known as the « French Silicon Valley », with its university, scientific, technological and residential areas.
Sophia Antipolis was in fact built in the forests surrounding Valbonne.
This development has increased the population from 3000 inhabitants in 1980 to 14099 in 2018, which has irrevocably changed the region.

Indeed, this cluster brings together various technology, information and scientific research industries, making it a major economic asset for the region.

Valbonne and its surroundings are rich with an international population, which has enabled the creation of international schools such as the CIV, EBICA or SKEMA Business School.

What You Will Love

Valbonne has an incredible cachet. It is an extremely pleasant village to visit and live in, where it is lovely to stroll through its narrow streets that lead to the superb Place des Arcades for a meal or a drink in the sun.

In addition to its many restaurants, Valbonne also has a number of fashion, decoration and antique shops, each more attractive than the next.

The Friday market is a must and attracts crowds, especially in the summer. There are local produce such as fruits and vegetables, as well as delicious Provençal food items, clothing, jewellery and cosmetics stands that complement the dishes of « Provence ».

The superb stroll along the banks of the Brague, a 15 km long coastal river that rises at the bottom of the Opio valley, allows you to reach the beautiful village of Biot on foot. It is easy to hike, mountain bike, or simply picnic in the Valbonne forest and the Valmasque Park, the latter stretching over 560 hectares, between Valbonne and Mougins.

Valbonne has a pleasant Mediterranean climate, characterized by hot summers and mild winters. Summer days are slightly warmer than on the coast, while winter mornings tend to be cooler.

Vabonne and its Medieval village square is a place where life is good, where time seems to have been put on hold, and where families and friends love to meet up.

Valbonne village also has an English-speaking atmosphere with its pubs, English bookshop, shopkeepers and English inhabitants. This population has been able to establish its culture in the life of the village by organizing festive events such as the Halloween evening during which a magical atmosphere prevails in the neighbouring towns.

Valbonne is infused with Provencal charm and beauty, which you will be enchanted by in the first few instants of your stay here.

The Market

Engineers and other researchers from all over the world who work in Sophia Antipolis have bought or built villas and properties in the area.

The Valbonne sector has thus become one of high demand by French and foreign buyers and investors due to several attractive factors such as rapid access to Nice airport, a lively and authentic village with shops and restaurants, international schools and the various industries of the Sophia Antipolis scientific park.

There are many private estates around Valbonne, which families with children are constantly seeking to buy because of their proximity to Sophia Antipolis and the various educational establishments.

There are also 2 other markets in this sector: that of holiday homes (French and foreign) and that of village houses and apartments offering charm and proximity.

The contemporary and Provençal style of the properties blends harmoniously into the woodland setting of the Valbonne sector (Valbonne forest, Valmasque Park).
